Suicide Prevention Awareness

Hope. Help. Prevention.  Let’s keep the story going.

A Community Conversation About Suicide, Mental Health & the Power of Hope

Paula’s Hope exists because of a life that ended in tragedy

In a split-second decision, Paula ended her life on Earth.  In her memory, Paula’s Hope was established to provide free, Christ-centered counseling and support to people who are hurting, struggling, or simply trying to find their way forward.

Now, we are bringing our community together for an important conversation about suicide prevention, awareness, and hope.

WHAT IS PAULA’S HOPE?

Paula’s Hope is a nonprofit Christian Discipleship Counseling Center serving Northwest Arkansas.

Our mission is simple:

To provide hope and healing through free, Christ-centered counseling to those who might otherwise be unable to afford it.

Since our founding, we have served hundreds of individuals and families, providing thousands of counseling sessions through the generosity of our counselors, volunteers, churches, and donors.

But there are still people hurting—and too many are suffering silently.

OUR SPECIAL SPEAKER — JOHN SHAW

We are honored to have John Shaw, a member of the Paula’s Hope Board of Directors and previous board member of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Kansas, joining us to lead this important conversation.  John was a board member for the Kansas/Kansas City American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for many years.  He has taught over 1000 people on suicide prevention.

John brings both personal commitment and professional involvement in the field of suicide prevention. His message will focus on helping us understand:

  • Warning signs we should never ignore

  • How to recognize someone who may be struggling

  • What to say—and what NOT to say—when someone is in crisis

  • How friends, families, churches, and communities can respond

  • Where to turn for help

  • Most importantly, how we can become people who bring hope

WHAT WILL YOU GET OUT OF THIS?

You don’t have to be a counselor, pastor, physician, or mental-health professional to make a difference.

You may be a parent who wants to know what to look for in your children.

You may have a friend who is struggling.

You may work with someone who is hurting.

You may simply want to be better prepared to recognize when someone needs help.

You will leave with greater awareness, practical tools, and a better understanding of how you can help someone move from despair toward hope.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This will be an honest and meaningful conversation.

We will talk openly about suicide—but our focus will be prevention, hope, compassion, and action.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions, learn about resources, and discover how our community can work together to make sure people don’t have to face their darkest moments alone.

And we will share the story of why Paula’s Hope exists—and why your support matters.

HELP US BRING HOPE TO MORE PEOPLE

Paula’s Hope provides counseling at no cost to those we serve.

That means we depend upon people who believe that no one should have to choose between getting help and being able to afford it.

Your sponsorship helps make that possible.

Your support helps provide:

Counseling.
Hope.
Healing.
A reason to keep going.

Whether you become a sponsor, make a financial contribution, provide a monthly gift, or simply share our mission with someone who needs it—you become part of Paula’s Hope.

Paula’s life on Earth ended.

But her story continues to bring hope to others.**

Help us make sure the next person gets the help they need before it’s too late.
