Where have we heard "In the Beginning"? The bible, of course. EVERYTHING begins with God! Nothing exsist without Him. HE is our creator and what a creator He is! But do you know why he created YOU? What purpose were you created for? Do you know WHY you are here and what your purpose is? Did you know scripture tells us the purpose of man: Micah 6:8, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Will you start your New Year of 2023 with a new attitude to do justly, be kind, and walk humbly with your God? Do you have hopes for this new year that lies ahead of you? What plans or as most people say, "New Resolutions" have you made for yourself in 2023? Most people take steps to improve their health, lose weight, aim for that job promotion, be a better spouse, mother, father, etc...but do not reflect on God and his purpose for them. Does GOD have plans for you? Have you asked him? Have you thought about what it is God desires for you? What "New Beginnings" He may have in store? |
We know He has a plan and a future for us because he says so in His Word:
Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
There are plenty of examples of new beginnings in the Bible. From start to finish, the Scriptures tell us stories of real people with real issues. We can learn a great deal from them about what to do when God gives you a new beginning. Can you relate to any of these people in the bible and the chances given to them by God for new beginning? All of them have an amazing God-given opportunities to change themselves and the world around them and so can you!

What does a new beginning mean?
Any opportunity that you get to wipe the slate clean and start over is a new beginning. It could also be a chance to pick up where you left off in one season of life to start at a more advanced level in another season of life. A new beginning could be a period of transition. In the Bible, new beginnings usually mean a God-granted opportunity to start again.
Ready for a Spiritual New Beginnings?
In the Bible, Jesus talks about being born again. What does that mean? Jesus meant that our hearts need to be submitted to God so that the Holy Spirit can take control of our lives. When you have a "Spiritual New Beginning" you no longer operate as though you are on your own and in charge of your own life but that you have been bought by Jesus sacrifice on the cross and are no longer your own but His. Through this, your life can be God-directed, leading you to live the full, free, abundant life promised to you in John 10:10. When you experience a new beginning born of the Holy Spirit, your whole life is affected. It is really very much like you are a new born baby. You are given a clean slate.
The decisions you make are different. The way you choose to see challenges changes. The events in your life take on new meaning. Your purpose becomes clearer. Your faith walk becomes more confident. Throughout your walk with God, you will need the benefit of new beginnings. You will stumble, fall, fail, and make mistakes. That’s where you will need the grace of God to start over each and every time. Spiritual new beginnings does not mean you get everything right the first time around. Rather, it’s a process. One that will take your whole life to perfect. That’s why setting spiritual goals is a great thing to do so you can know exactly what you’re working on each year. But while you are working on all that, know this: there is nothing you can do to earn your salvation. Jesus has done the job and given you the benefits. Your job is to live, walk, and grow in freedom through HIM.
Remember these 10 things as you BEGIN 2023 with a new purpose and reason for your life in Christ.
When God gives you a new beginning:
- Give yourself a new start too. Be kind to yourself and believe in yourself as Christ believes in you
- Forget about those who will not give you a second chance and know it is God you serve and He has a plan and purpose for your life
- Accept God’s forgiveness and gifts which He freely gives
- Grab your new start with both hands and take every opportunity to change your life and the world around you
- Work on yourself to be more like Christ in all areas of your life
- Change the behaviors you use to have, repent (turn the other way and go toward God) and walk in the newness of the life Christ has given you
- Dedicate yourself to a life devoted to God, seeking Him, obeying Him and submitting to His ways & will and you will have a life more abundant
- Change your attitudes as to reflect Christ in you, shining Christ love to others
- Do your very best no matter what and when you stumble, get back up, and know CHRIST IS FOR YOU!
- Share your testimony with others when the opportunity is given and give Glory to God for the
great things He's done
